Joe Mongelli and The Cape Jazz Crew
For many, the years from 1955 to 1965 represent the most compelling era in jazz. Iconic recordings were being made by Miles Davis, John Coltrane, Art Blakey, Horace Silver and many others too numerous to mention. Their music continues to influence musicians today and represents some of the most beloved, popular and infectious jazz ever recorded.
This concert pays tribute to some of the greatest hits of Miles, Coltrane, Blakey and Silver from the period 1955-1965. The Cape Jazz Crew meticulously recreates the original recordings and arrangements so audiences can experience this great music as initially conceived and recorded.
While the presentation recreates the original recordings, inspired, fresh improvisation is provided by some of the Cape’s best jazz musicians: Joe Mongelli, trumpet; Scott Avidon, saxophone; Mark Borgmann, piano, Michael Ryle upright bass. and Michael Dunford, drums.
Experience, once again - or maybe for the first time, this great music. Not to be missed!
